Online photo restoration: what to know before you order
With online photo restoration, everything happens from your home. You do not have to go anywhere or hand your family photo to anyone. Still, sending a picture of something precious over the internet for the first time can feel like a big step.
This part answers the questions people ask before they order. Is it safe? How do you get a good picture of your photo? What happens after you order, what will you pay, and what if you are not happy with the result?
Is it safe to restore photos online?
It is a fair question, so here are the plain facts. Start with your original. When you take a picture of your photo with your phone, or upload a picture you already have, the photo itself stays with you. It never leaves your house. Only the picture comes to us.
Next, the picture you upload. You own your photos. We never use or share them without your permission.
Last, paying. You see the exact price before you pay. Nothing is charged until you have seen that price and chosen to pay. And we never see or store your full card number.
How to take a good picture of your photo
You do not need to be good with a camera. Put your photo on a table in good light. Hold your phone straight above it. Let the photo fill the whole screen, and check that there is no glare on it before you take the picture. If your photo is torn, lay it flat and put the pieces together as well as you can first. You can take the picture more than once and use the best one.
If you already have a scan or a picture of the photo saved, you can upload that instead. And if you are not sure your picture is good enough, call or email us before you order. We will help you with it, so you do not have to guess.
What happens after you place your order
You choose how fast you want your photo at checkout. Most orders are ready in 2 to 5 business days. If you are in a rush, there is a 24-hour option. The faster options cost extra, and you see that on your screen before you pay.
When your photo is ready, we send you an email. You look at it first, before anything is final. If something is not right, tell us what to change and an artist works on it again, free, as many times as you need. It helps to be specific, such as "there is still a mark on her cheek" or "his hair was darker".
When you are happy with it, you approve it and download it. To see your order, you sign in with your email address and a verification code we email you, so there is no password to remember.
What you pay, and what is optional
With our online photo restoration service, you choose your artist: $38 or $58 per photo. The price does not depend on how damaged your photo is. Unlimited free revisions are included either way.
Everything else is optional, and you choose it yourself. If your photo is black and white or sepia, you can add colorization for an extra $19 per photo. You can ask for faster delivery for an extra charge. You can add prints. There is also a discount when you restore three or more photos, and it is taken off for you at checkout. There are no extra fees. Whatever you choose, the total is on your screen before you pay.
What you can do with your restored photo
Your restored photo comes as a digital copy, and it is yours. You can keep it on your phone or your computer, send it to your family, and print it as often as you like. One old photo can become a copy for everyone in the family.
If you would like us to print it for you, you can add prints when you order. Sizes go from 4 by 6 inches up to 16 by 20 inches, starting at $10 per print, and we ship them to you. Nothing is printed until you have approved the restoration. We ask for your shipping address at that point.
If it does not turn out the way you hoped
It is natural to worry about this, so here is how you are protected. First, unlimited free revisions: you can ask for changes as many times as you need. Second, a 100% money-back guarantee: if we can't get it right, you get your money back. No hassle. No questions asked.
Our artists can fix nearly anything: fading, stains, tears, creases, water damage, even missing pieces. If you wonder whether your photo can be restored, call or email us before you order. A real person answers, and we will tell you honestly.
So the first step is a small one. Take a picture of your photo with your phone. You see the price before you pay, and you see your restored photo before anything is final.
